Player Selection
Want to know how selection works at Brackenfell CC?
We want every player to know what to expect. Selection is about performance, commitment, attitude and being part of the team — not friendships, favourites or reputation.
Our Selection Panel meets every Tuesday to select teams, selecting from the 1st team down. Your recent form, training attendance, availability and attitude all play a part, with input from captains and coaches.
How do you put yourself in the best position to be selected?
- Train regularly — practice matters and gives you the opportunity to improve and put your hand up.
- Be registered and up to date — make sure you are properly registered with Brackenfell CC and that your membership fees are paid.
- Communicate — let your captain or team know your availability early.
- Bring the right attitude — work hard, compete, support your teammates and contribute to the team.
- Earn your opportunity — selections are based on what you bring to the team, not simply your reputation.
A few important rules also apply when playing for the club. You must be registered with WPCA at least 7 days before a league match. Players generally cannot play for two different teams in the same week, and playing twice in a weekend is only permitted when your own team has a double-header.
When you pull on the Brackenfell CC shirt, you represent more than yourself. We expect players to show commitment, respect their teammates and opponents, and conduct themselves in a way that reflects positively on the club and the game.
